In a 'partly accidental' incident, Overstock started accepting Bitcoin in a partnership with Coinbase. Founder Patrick Byrne mentioned to a journalist that he might start accepting Bitcoin 'off the top of [his] head'. He carried on separately, 'the implementation plays for itself a hundred times just by the press. Bitcoin users started to come to our site and buying a set of pillows or a bed just to show their support. We sold few hundred thousand just in two days after getting live.'
