In May 2013, EFF announced that they would be accepting Bitcoin donations to make one-time donations, monthly donations, or to purchase an EFF membership. In their announcement, they made it clear that the charity do not endorse Bitcoins, just like they don't endorse any other electronic payment method they accept. EFF had accepted Bitcoin donations prior to this announcement, although stopped in 2011 due to a 'number of reasons.' However, they claimed they wanted to give their 'supporters as much flexibility as possible in making donations to EFF.'
